For western half of state, winter is coming

Get ready for a thick blanket of snow throughout the western part of Montana today through the end of Saturday.

The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm watch for tomorrow and Saturday with snow totals in addition to today’s less severe storm expected to top more than two feet in some spots.

Helena could end up with 16 inches of snow by Saturday night; Missoula is forecasted to get up to 24 inches.

If you’re looking for the most snow, National Weather Service forecasters think Seeley Lake could end up with nearly four feet of the white stuff.
