Voters to decide in June on $900K fire department levy

Voters in Helena will be asked to tax themselves a little more in June to help pay for new firefighters and other needs.  The county commission approved putting a $900,000 levy for the fire department on the June ballot at their meeting yesterday.

The levy would help the department hire half a dozen firefighters.  The owner of a home valued at $200,000 would pay about $36 more per year in property taxes if the levy passes.
