Teen dies in crash while car being pursued by officers

BILLINGS (AP) — A 17-year-old Montana boy died when the car he was riding in crashed while being pursued by a Bureau of Indian Affairs officer on the Crow Indian Reservation.

Bighorn County officials say Kobe Hiwalker of Lame Deer died in the crash Friday night east of Crow Agency.

The Billings Gazette reports Hiwalker was one of two passengers in a car driven by a 21-year-old woman from Crow Agency.

The Montana Highway Patrol reports the car was westbound on U.S. Highway 212 at a high rate of speed with the officer in pursuit when the driver lost control going around a curve.

The driver and a 15-year-old girl were injured.
