Missoula manhunt ends with suspect behind bars

The subject of an hours-long manhunt in East Missoula is behind bars on federal warrants today.

Authorities say they tried to pull William Newhoff over in a stolen car yesterday morning when he took off, eventually crashing the car and then running from the scene with a gun.

Authorities caught up with the 35-year-old in the afternoon when they found him hiding in a trailer on Speedway Avenue.  The search for Newhoff, who was wanted on a probation violation, led to Missoula College and Bonner School going into lockdown.

No one was injured in the search.
