BILLINGS (AP) — A man who fired his handgun into a Billings home, hitting his ex-girlfriend in the leg, has been sentenced to 20 years in prison.
The Billings Gazette reported Wednesday that 42-year-old Jamie Lee Bristow was sentenced earlier this month for assault with a weapon and criminal endangerment.
Prosecutors say he fired his 9 mm handgun through the window of a South Side home where his ex-girlfriend was asleep on Oct. 29, 2016. She and two other residents were struck by bullets.
Bristow was on parole at the time. In 2005, he was sentenced to 20 years in prison for slashing a man to death Dec. 24, 2003. Bristow claimed self-defense, and his sentence was based on a conviction of mitigated deliberate homicide.
