Law enforcement looking for suspects following ATM theft, high-speed chase

The Lewis and Clark County Sheriff’s Department is asking for the public’s help in identifying two persons of interest after a Saturday night high speed pursuit.

Two suspects broke in to the Causeway Chalet Bar on Hauser Dam Road on Saturday, and were able to get away with an ATM machine from inside of the business. Deputies were dispatched to the area and located a silver Dodge crew cab truck leaving the area.

Deputies initiated a traffic stop, which ultimately led to a pursuit on Lincoln Road reaching speeds of 100 mph. Deputies terminated the pursuit at the top of Flescher Pass due to safety concerns.

Based on the suspects’ driving behavior, it appears as if the driver was familiar with Lincoln Road.

The truck is believed to be the same vehicle involved in a New Year’s Eve incident in Lincoln, when a pair of unknown suspects attempted to break into D&D Foodtown. Surveillance video from the business captured pictures of both suspects and their vehicle.

During the attempted burglary in Lincoln, the suspects were wearing masks to cover their faces. Their vehicle was a silver Dodge crew cab truck with a low-profile black tool box in the truck bed.

At the time of these crimes, the truck had no front license plate and the driver’s side fog light was not working.

Deputies are looking for two persons of interest that were inside the Causeway Chalet earlier in the night Saturday. Surveillance video captured pictures of their faces while they were gambling inside the business.

If you believe you know the vehicle or spot the suspects, Sheriff Leo Dutton asks that you call 911 and not approach. You can also call Sgt. Brian Robinson at 447-8248.
