Jailed man sentenced for trying to hire woman as prostitute

MISSOULA (AP) — A man has been sentenced for attempting to hire a woman to work as a prostitute while they were both serving time in a western Montana jail.
The Missoulian reported Thursday that 50-year-old Walter Leon Hill accepted a deal from prosecutors by pleading guilty to promoting prostitution.
A judge handed down a prison sentence of 10 years without a possibility of parole for the first five years.
It is Hill’s second conviction in four years on prostitution charges.
The judge says the sentence was based on his disregard of probation conditions in the previous case.
Police say Hill passed a note to a woman who was also serving time in the jail that asked her to work for him as a prostitute and to recruit other women during treatment meetings.
