A Montana legislative subcommittee is advancing a policy applying to lawmakers that prohibits discrimination and harassment.
The policy calls for mandatory harassment prevention training for all legislators and House and Senate staff and encourages prompt reporting of inappropriate behaviors and to have those reports investigated.
The plan would also make information about substantiated complaints available to the public
The committee began meeting late last year after reports of sexual harassment sprang up in other state legislatures.
The policy will be advanced to the full Legislative Council on August 23rd.
