Great Falls man killed in climbing accident

A Great Falls man was killed in a climbing accident at Cataract Falls near Augusta yesterday.

Emergency crews were first called about the man’s fall a little past 1 p.m., but it took several hours to reach the remote location, west of Augusta, about 20 miles off Elk Creek Road.

Lewis and Clark County Sheriff Leo Dutton says the man, who had been climbing with four friends, died after a fall of about 90 feet.  No word on what caused the man to fall.  No one else was injured.
