Montana Gov. Steve Bullock was in Mexico City over the weekend, representing the nation’s governors as Chairman of the National Governors Association.
Bullock attended the inauguration of Mexican President-elect Lopez Obrador, and also participated in a meeting with Mexican governors, businesses and the American Chamber of Commerce.
He also joined the new Mexican president for a lunch with U.S. Vice President Mike Pence, several U.S. governors and heads of state before visiting with the Brewers of Mexico and the Mexican Craft Brewers Association to promote Montana’s agricultural products.
Mexican brewers have become some of Montana’s largest barley buyers. According to the U.S. Grains Council, Montana barley makes up up to 70 percent of Mexican malt imports from the U.S.
